The increase in the sales of Android OS around the world was always the problem for Microsoft. Because the Android OS gave Google access to the most important element which every company strive for, your information. The use of Google OS aka Android around the globe keeps the continuous flow of information of every Android mobile user. And the google apps make it easy for Google to offer user centric services, thus giving Google an edge over others combined.
The same has been considered by many as unfair competition because they can’t access the user info with the ease,Google can. And so they have complained the same to the EU, which is always strict with the fairness in competition methodology. The group comprising 17 companies includes Microsoft, Nokia, and Oracle has blamed Google of acting unfairly by giving pre-installed YouTube and Google Maps with Android.
“Google is using its Android mobile operating system as a Trojan horse to deceive partners, monopolize the mobile marketplace, and control consumer data,” said Thomas Vinje, the group’s Brussels-based lawyer. FairSearch said in a statement, “Google’s predatory distribution of Android at below-cost makes it difficult for other providers of operating systems to recoup investments in competing with Google’s dominant mobile platform”.
Google responded saying, “We continue to work cooperatively with the European Commission”. The EU has not decided whether to take or drop the case. But seeing the previous EU’s stance with every company, the result will certainly start a new debate on the technological dominance at various fronts.
