Foxconn has agreed to pay royalty fees to Microsoft for the use of windows patents it uses to build Android devices. The exact royalty per device has not been disclosed by Microsoft or Foxconn. The agreement will cover the mobile, tablet and TVs build by Foxconn on Android OS.
Foxconn,famous for making iPhone and other Apple products also build the devices for Nook and Amazon.The new royalty agreement will increase the Microsoft revenue by licensing agreements from major companies.
The companies include Foxconn, Samsung, Acer, HTC, LG and Barnes & Noble which use patents from Microsoft and pay per device royalty fees to Microsoft. The deal extends the Microsoft reach to 50% of Android devices using their patents.
