Yesterday,Syamantec reported a threat report which shows the increase in the attack by 42%. A research done by Microsoft has found a similar increased trend in the online threats. Published as Security Intelligence Report, volume 14 takes a look at the security level of the computers and online threats between July 2012 to December 2012.The report has found some important facts about the computer security.
The report states that 24% of computers does not have updated antivirus software. Thus, increasing the chances of getting infected against the new malware by 5.5% risking the online privacy. As malware is used by cyber criminals to steal the user information.
The report also sees an increase in the use of the old method of hiding malicious content in the PDF or DOCS document .Security researchers have listed the top 9 countries and found Egypt to be country with most unprotected computers followed by India.
The cue to take:-
- Update antivirus regularly
- Avoid opening unknown emails and online or offline content
- Avoid downloading from unknown or untrusted websites
